Mr. Obama has come in a close second in the New Hampshire primary. This is not the result that I would have hoped for, Hillary Clinton won the primary tonight mostly by co-opting Barack Obama’s message of change and hope. Mrs. Clinton can talk about change until the trumpets sound and the world ends but she is a beltway insider and will not bring change to our nation. She is not willing to say that she will bring the troops home from Iraq, she never did apologize for casting her vote to allow Bush to go to war. Even after the last six years she voted to declare the Iranian revolutionary guard a terrorist organization. She may be experienced but has learned little for it. Her resent record on health care is even more troubling , after being shut down on her health care reform effort in 92′ she actually became the second largest recipient in the Senate of health care industry contributions (New York Times, July 12, 2006). She also voted for Medicare part D a confusing and obtuse law that provided drug coverage to seniors but was primarily a massive pay off to the insurance and drug companies, even prohibiting Medicare from using it’s size to negotiate for better prices. Voting for Hillary is voting for status quo. A vote for Barack Obama is a vote for better health care, real change in our foreign policy, fair trade instead of the destructive free trade and a President that will fight for the people who employ him. So I say Game On! Let’s get out, fight for him and see what Barack Obama can do for us.
